The Kanto Ora Powered Reference Desktop Speakers with Bluetooth are a versatile choice for any music enthusiast. Blending the qualities of computer speakers and studio monitors, they offer studio-grade sound without occupying much space. Perfect for musicians, gamers, content creators, and general listeners, the Kanto Ora delivers rich audio quality in a compact design.
Equipped with modern inputs like USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and RCA, the Ora speakers can seamlessly connect to a wide range of devices. Whether you want to optimize sound from your PC or Mac, pair your phone or smart home device via Bluetooth, or use analog gear with RCA, these speakers are ready for the task.
The Ora speakers feature a built-in crossover that directs bass frequencies to a connected subwoofer, ensuring perfect low-end integration. This allows the 3-inch woofers and ¾-inch silk dome tweeters to excel in their respective ranges, providing exceptional audio quality. Despite their small footprint, these speakers deliver impressive sound.
Reference-grade sound - Kanto's first active speaker
Experience superior sound quality and innovative technology with the Kanto Ora Powered Reference Desktop Speakers with Bluetooth in Black. As Kanto's first active speaker, each driver in Ora is individually powered and tuned for optimal performance.
Bi-amplified for outstanding audio reproduction, Ora divides the 50 W RMS class-D amplifier into four separate channels. Each tweeter receives 9 W of power, while each woofer gets 16 W, resulting in balanced and precise sound across the frequency spectrum.
Ora uses full DSP (digital signal processing) to create its crossover points, unlike traditional crossovers that rely on analog components. This digital approach allows precise control over the frequency range delivered to each driver, enhancing clarity and accuracy.
Featuring ¾" silk dome tweeters, Ora offers smooth and extended treble for enjoyable, fatigue-free listening sessions. The carefully designed waveguide improves Ora's vertical dispersion, ensuring consistently excellent sound whether the speakers are upright or sideways.
Despite its small size, Ora's 3" woofers deliver remarkable low-end extension. During pre-production demos at tradeshows, Ora's rich bass response often led listeners to believe a subwoofer was connected. While the option to add a subwoofer is available, Ora's powerful woofers may make it unnecessary in many setups.
Onboard DSP control for optimizing acoustic performance
The advanced DSP control extends to the sub-out port, which automatically filters frequencies below 100 Hz with a steep 24 dB/octave slope when a subwoofer is connected. This feature allows Ora's 3" woofers to focus on midrange frequencies, reducing distortion and enabling the speakers to handle loud transients with greater precision.
Bluetooth, USB-C, and more connections
Ora's design prioritizes versatility, offering multiple input options to accommodate various audio sources. An RCA input supports older gaming consoles or analog gear like turntables and cassette players. The USB-C input provides a solid connection for bypassing typically subpar onboard audio on PC or Mac, supporting up to 16 bit/48 kHz. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.0 offers seamless connectivity with iPhone, Android, or smart home devices, making Ora a comprehensive solution for all audio needs.
LED indicators and front-panel volume control
Convenience and ease of use are key features of Ora. The LED on the front of the speaker switches between Green for RCA, Yellow for USB, and Blue for Bluetooth, indicating the selected input. The front knob allows input switching with a press, volume adjustment with a twist, powering off with a long press, and powering on with a simple press. The rear of the speaker features a 1/4"-20 hole for easy wall mounting or compatibility with speaker stands.
Despite its compact size, Ora delivers impressive sound quality. Only 25 percent larger in volume than the popular YU2, Ora offers significantly improved sound performance. Its narrow profile allows easy placement under a monitor, ideal for ultrawide or dual monitor setups where space is limited. Compared to full-size studio monitors, Ora is much smaller, making it a practical choice for any studio or workspace.
Magnetically-shielded design - ideal for use with all gear
Finally, Ora incorporates magnetic shielding in the woofer design. This feature, though less common in modern speakers, serves a niche purpose for retro gaming enthusiasts. Retro games were designed with the technology of their time, and the pixel shape, scan lines, and CRT monitors played a crucial role in their unique art styles. By placing Ora speakers beside a CRT monitor, retro gamers can experience every square wave and sawtooth in stunning detail, recreating an authentic retro gaming experience.
